Horror fans rejoice!
After a long wait, we have the very first trailer for IT. The film is an adaptation of the renowned Stephen King novel of the same name and follows the story of a group of kids who cross with a psychotic killer clown who preys on little children.
If you’re a fan of the book or the 90s miniseries, the trailer is choke full of winks to the novel. The trailer begins with little George Denbrough (Jackson Robert Scott) playing with his paper on a rainy day in Derry, Maine. The boat eventually runs down the stream, into a drain where we first meet Pennywise (Bill Skarsgård), said clown killer. The trailer then shifts the focus on the “Losers Club“ who have all witnessed something strange going on and begin investigating these incidents until Pennywise begins haunting them.
The novel is divided into largely two sections, one dealing with the present timeline and the other set 30 years back or so. While the novel was written with the kids during the 50s era, the film has them updated to the 80s. The trailer has a few scary scenes to show but the quick editing removes the element of fear out. The final film, I hope will build its way up to the scares like the Conjuring films have done recently.
