Meet Badass Izzy In The Latest ‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ Trailer

Paramount Pictures has released a full-length trailer for Transformers: The Last Knight. The fifth installment in the franchise will further the plot thread about the creators of the Transformers (the robots and not the franchise or the toyline) it started in Age of Extinction.

The trailer has the usual Michael Bay flair by which I mean some gorgeous scenery (especially the one’s shot in IMAX) and loads of explosions! But what mainly intrigues me and going by the comments on YouTube a whole lot of other people is the lead Izzy (Isabela Moner). The trailer is centred around the young lead and the way most of the promotional material has been promoting the film, she is our central character as well.

Izzy is a badass through and through and the whole trailer has a “girl power” vibe to it. Bay has been often criticized for portraying women as eye-candy in the Transformers franchise. I mean, do you remember Megan Fox, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, or Nicola Peltz for anything apart from their looks? This is an improvement on the director’s part who has announced that he maybe finally retiring from the franchise.

The film also stars Mark Wahlberg, Anthony Hopkins, Laura HaddockStanley Tucci, Jerrod Carmichael, John Goodman, John Turturro, Josh Duhamel, Isabela Moner, Gil Birmingham, and Jean Dujardin.

Transformers: The Last Knight arrives in theatres on June 23, 2017.

Read the official synopsis for the film below:

The Last Knight shatters the core myths of the Transformers franchise, and redefines what it means to be a hero. Humans and Transformers are at war, Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Saving our world falls upon the shoulders of an unlikely alliance: Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg); Bumblebee; an English Lord (Sir Anthony Hopkins); and an Oxford Professor (Laura Haddock).

There comes a moment in everyone’s life when we are called upon to make a difference. In Transformers: The Last Knight, the hunted will become heroes. Heroes will become villains. Only one world will survive: theirs, or ours.
