No Tales Are Being Told By Dead Men In This Trailer

2017 is the year for all Jacks to come back. Disney dropped the official trailer for Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales on March 2, 2017.

The new Pirates of The Caribbean trailer promises yet another dark and funny movie. It begins with a Spanish Captain Armando Salazar narrating his encounter with a young Jack Sparrow and how it left him with nothing but rage ( trademark Jack Sparrow move, btw). On the journey, Jack meets a young woman named Carina Smyth and enlists the help of Henry.  The whole set up is reminiscent of Pirates of The Caribbean: Curse of The Black Pearl. This was confirmed by the film-makers themselves when they cited the first movie as an inspiration and tone for Dead Men Tell No Tales.  The trailer also teases that this will be the “Final Adventure”, sparking rumours that this will be the final installment of the franchise.

Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush will be reprising their roles as Captain Jack Sparrow and Hector Barbossa along with Kaya Scodelario as Carina Smyth, Australian actor Brenton Thwaites as Henry, and Javier Bardem as Captain Salazar.

Also reprising their roles are Kevin McNally as Joshamee Gibbs and Orlando Bloom as Will Turner. The movie, directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, is set to release on May 26, 2017.

Here’s the official synopsis for the film:

Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow in the all-new “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.” The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea—notably Jack. Jack’s only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy. At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifully small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has ever faced.
