‘The Lying Detective’ Introduces A New Adversary For Sherlock

Contains Spoilers for “The Six Thatchers”

So Sunday’s premiere for Sherlock was a hard punch to the gut. It kept things interesting throughout just like a true thriller and suspense show should. The ending was really ballsy. If you thought 2016 was bad, think about this episode and yes…. the start to the new year has been officially ruined if you really loved Mary Watson.

That wasn’t the only mildly depressing part about it, at the start of the episode John was seeing fancying a lady, and was later found to be texting her frequently. Moreover, after the death of Mary, he blamed Sherlock for not protecting her. Now that’s just plain rude.

Anyway, bottom line is that the episode kicked ass and was worth the wait even if some things could’ve been handled better. The trailer for episode 2 titled “The Lying Detective”. The episode introduces us to a new villain played by Toby Jones (Arnim Zola in Captain America). The trailer is intense and places Jones’ character as a truly despicable character, one even more hatable than Moriarty perhaps?

Sherlock faces perhaps the most chilling enemy of his long career: the powerful and seemingly unassailable Culverton Smith – a man with a very dark secret indeed.
