20th Century Fox has released the first trailer for Alien: Covenant. The film is a sequel to 2012’s Prometheus and the second film in the Alien prequel film series directed by Ridley Scott. The film will be continuing with Michael Fassbender‘s adventure, the sole survivor of the last film, as he now continues on a different mission with a new crew.
When Prometheus was released back in ’12 it faced major criticism about how the film didn’t much connect with the 1979’s horror classic and how it wasn’t a true prequel. Instead on focusing on the Xenomorphs, it focused on a new storyline with the “Engineers“, the creators of the Xenomorphs. From a marketing standpoint, the sequel has already tackled those criticisms as all we see are references to the original.
The trailer for the film is pretty intense. It successfully creates tension and teases some pretty big ugly scares from the film, but by no means spoilery. Just like the marketing, the trailer is a reminder that we are getting a prequel that is tying up in a much better way to the beloved original series.
