Return To The World Of Replicants With First Look At ‘Blade Runner 2049’

Warner Bros. has released the first teaser (or announcement trailer as it is called) for Blade Runner 2049. The film is a sequel to the classic cult sci-fi Blade Runner (1982) by Ridley Scott and starred Harrison Ford as Rick Deckard the “replicant” hunter.

While not a box-office hit when it first released, the film went on to garner support and fandom as the years went by. The films distinct visual style in creating the futuristic dystopian setting was cited by many filmmakers as a direct inspiration in creating their own films.

While the trailer doesn’t give us any story points at all per say but we do have a helpful synopsis for that. Arrival and Sicario director Denis Villeneuve is tackling this project. This will be the first big budget studio film for the director who has till now been working on modest budgets (Arrival cost only $47 million).

Also joining the cast are Ryan Gosling as LAPD Officer K and Oscar® winner Jared Leto. Thirteen times Academy Award nominee Roger Deakins  who has worked with Villeneuve on both Prisoners (2013) and Sicario is behind the lens once again.

Rounding out the cast are Ana de Armas, Mackenzie Davis, Dave Bautista, Carla Juri, Barkhad Abdi, and Robin Wright. Written by  Michael Green (Logan, Alien: Covenant) and Hampton Fancher (the original Blade Runner) the film opens on October 6, 2017.
