Just last week we reported that Aquaman has been pushed back to October and now an unannounced project has taken that July date. Today some more shuffles have been made in the DC Films release date.
The Hollywood Reporter, in an exclusive report states that Zack Snyder is still on to direct Justice League 2 but that will be after a break. Snyder, the report claims will go back to developing The Last Photograph, an Afghanistan war drama he was attached to direct all the way back since the mid 2000s. Christian Bale and Sean Penn were cast in the lead roles and Snyder would’ve supposedly tackled it post Man of Steel. But the director then got busy with the DC Universe and the project was left on the shelf.
The film will be on a much smaller scale compared to the last three film he has directed and will serve as a “palate cleanser” before he returns back for the Justice League sequel. This means that the JL2 release has been now pushed back and the June 2019 date is prime for the release of Ben Affleck‘s Batman solo film.
The report reads :
Snyder is still intent on directing Justice League 2, but that movie has been pushed back to make room for Ben Affleck’s Batman stand-alone movie. The move left an opening in Snyder’s schedule for a production that is smaller-scale, at least compared to massive superhero tentpoles he has been working on of late. Call it a palate cleanser, if you will.
There is no official word on the release date of The Batman but we do expect is to be ready by mid 2018 or early 2019 as production begins early next year. Affleck is currently busy with promoting Live By Night which goes wide next month. Expect some news to drop during the interviews!
