Fox Searchlight has released the first trailer for their upcoming biographical drama Jackie. The film chronicles the life of Jacqueline Kennedy (Natalie Portman), during her time as the first lady and especially after the assassination of her husband John F. Kennedy.

The trailer is all about the feels. Portman is seen giving what could be arguably her career best performance in the film. Keep an eye out for her during the awards season as almost ever other review praising her performance, some calling it better than ‘Black Swan’.

The film is directed by Chilean director Pablo Larraín who makes his debut in Hollywood with Jackie. To recreate the retro look the film has been shot on Super 16mm film. This not only gives it the look and feel of the bygone era, but also helps the filmmakers to blend the archival footage with the film creating a consistent, seamless look.

JACKIE is a searing and intimate portrait of one of the most important and tragic moments in American history, seen through the eyes of the iconic First Lady, then Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy (Natalie Portman). JACKIE places us in her world during the days immediately following her husband’s assassination. Known for her extraordinary dignity and poise, here we see a psychological portrait of the First Lady as she struggles to maintain her husband’s legacy and the world of “Camelot” that they created and loved so well.
