First ‘Cars 3’ Teaser Takes A Dark For A Pixar Film

Pixar has released the very first teaser for Cars 3 and it is a fry cry from what we’ve seen before. Pixar which is known to make films for the whole family, something both kids and adults can watch together has taken a much darker turn with this one.

The teaser opens on the race track as we see a new breed of race cars racing down the track, an old rusted Lightning McQueen can be seen behind. Soon McQueen is met with an accident and he is tossed up in the air. The teaser ends with an ominous message “FROM THIS MOMENT EVERYTHING CHANGES”.

From the synopsis we do figure out that this isn’t the end of McQueen, though he will suffer damages. The story will then pick up with him learning tricks of the trade from a much younger technician. The real question is that will the film actually have the same tone as this teaser? Or the teaser is merely a distraction and the final cut is colourful as the rest of the Cars films? For now we can only guess.

Brian Fee makes his directorial debut with the film. He has previously worked on Cars Cars 2 as a storyboard artist. The film is produced by Kevin Reher (A Bug’s Life, La Luna short). Owen Wilson is returning to voice Lightning McQueen.

Cars 3 will be released in theaters on June 16, 2017.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game, he will need the help of an eager young race technician, Cruz Ramirez, with her own plan to win, plus inspiration from the late Fabulous Hudson Hornet and a few unexpected turns. Proving that #95 isn’t through yet will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing’s biggest stage!
