‘Beauty And The Beast’ Trailer: Get Ready For A Nostalgic Trip

Finally after much waiting, we have the very first full trailer for Disney‘s live-action remake of their animated classic Beauty And The Beast. The film stars Harry Potter alumni Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as Prince Adam aka The Beast.

Just about a week back we got a look at most of the characters appearing in the film when new images were released. There was a small backlash against the look of the Beast which people deemed as “too ugly” (Kinda like the whole point of the film). But yes, the look wasn’t sitting well with me as a general viewer too, but thankfully that wasn’t the case in with the trailer. While the look needs to be slightly more polished, it is overall on point.

The trailer is simply a visual eye candy for the most part with the gold popping out throughout. It is a much welcome change since most of the modern blockbusters using CG tend to have a washed out look. Again, after doing a brilliant on The Jungle Book the visual effects look very impressive with each animated character having a sense of reality to it (as much as a talking candle stand and a clock can have).

One last thing I hope is that the filmmakers haven’t changed the soulful title track sung by Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson. Expect a much bigger backlash if they pull that move! (Honestly, please don’t Disney, please don’t)

The live-action remake is directed by Bill Condon (Dreamgirls, Twilight: Breaking Dawn) with Evan Spiliotopoulos and Stephen Chbosky penning the script.

Filling the supporting roles are Kevin Kline as Maurice (Belle’s father), Josh Gad as Le Fou, Luke Evans as Gaston, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts, Ewan McGregor as Lumière, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette.

Beauty And The Beast will release worldwide on March 17, 2017.

Here’s the official plot synopsis for the film:

Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is a live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs. “Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within. The film stars: Emma Watson as Belle; Dan Stevens as the Beast; Luke Evans as Gaston, the handsome, but shallow villager who woos Belle; Oscar® winner Kevin Kline as Maurice, Belle’s eccentric, but lovable father; Josh Gad as Lefou, Gaston’s long-suffering aide-de-camp; Golden Globe® nominee Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, the candelabra; Oscar nominee Stanley Tucci as Maestro Cadenza, the harpsichord; Oscar nominee Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, the mantel clock; and two-time Academy Award® winner Emma Thompson as the teapot, Mrs. Potts.
