Mel Gibson has stayed out of the spotlight for a long time as a director since 2006’s Apocalypto. Hacksaw Ridge marks the return of the former Mad Max star in the director’s chair.
The World War 2 drama follows the life of one Desmond Doss (Andrew Garfield), a medic and whose bravado in the War where he saved 75 men without firing a single bullet.
As evident from the first trailer (and the line I typed above) non violence is a pretty big theme in this film to which our protagonist adheres. The clip released, titled “Cowardice” shows how far Desmond is willing to go for his principles. In the trailer we saw Desmond assaulted by his colleagues for refusing to use or train with weapons during wartime. It can be fairly assumed that the clip is a prelude to the incident.
