Hugh Jackman Is Wolverine One Last Time In First ‘Logan’ Trailer

This is it. The time has come. Hugh Jackman became a household name when he played The Wolverine all the way back in 2000. After 8 films in (counting the quick cameos in both, First Class and Apocalypse), the actor will finally bid farewell to the role.

20th Century Fox has released the first trailer for the Logan (previously know as Wolverine 3). The film takes place in the near future where we see our protagonist has grown old and his regenerative powers have slowed down. The world has become hell for mutants (never exactly was a heaven for them in the first place). All allies are gone except Professor X played by Patrick Stewart who himself seems on his deathbed.

Not much plot details are put forward in the trailer except the ones we already. A major player in all of this will be X-23, a mutant described as very much like Logan himself. A key inspiration for the film will be Old Man Logan, but for those who have read the comic do not hope for the film to follow the storyline as it was in the comic.

The trailer itself is effective. We have a grizzled toughened but at the same time a more weak protagonist, on a run from the villains. If the title of the film wasn’t enough to get you into the seats, the trailer surely will.

UPDATE : A red band trailer was released shortly after which has Logan straight up impaling a guy in the trailer.

James Mangold returns to direct the film following the successful 2014 The Wolverine. The film also stars Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Merchant, Richard E. GrantElizabeth Rodriguez, and Dafne Keen.

Logan will hit the big screen on March 3, 2017.
