Go Go Power Rangers!
Finally, after a lot of waiting around, we have the official teaser come out for the Power Rangers movie. The film is based on the (no surprises here) very beloved Power Rangers franchise from the 90s which has had multiple seasons (23 seasons with 19 themes) over the past 2 decades.
Though based on the beloved childhood franchise, the story is said to be more mature and sophisticated moving from the campy nature of the original show. Back in July, Bryan Cranston, in an interview to the Huffington Post said that the film will be what The Dark Knight was to Batman ’66. Now that definitely has our hopes high!
Coming back to the trailer itself, it depicts a bunch of misfits all getting bullied or ostracized in one way or another (featuring a very satisfying scene of Naomi Scott cutting her long, dark tresses) to the soulful voice of Halsey singing the featured song, “I Walk The Line”. Visually and storywise the film is way too close to Josh Trank‘s Chronicle or the ill-fated Fantastic 4 (or Fan4tastic). Sadly, this time we do not get to see the Rangers in their full costumes (or Zords) which is just teased at the end. Indeed they’re saving some more for later.
