Meet Some Of The Creatures From ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them’

Warner Bros. have released a new extended trailer for the upcoming Harry Potter prequel series Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. Set in 1926, the film chronicles the adventures of Newt Scamander, the famed Magizoologist in the city of New York.

There is no new footage in the trailer. In fact, it is just a shorter version of the Comic-Con trailer, but who doesn’t wants to revisit the world and listen to Hedwig’s Theme!

Another major news dropped from the wizarding word a few days back. New images of some of the “fantastic beasts” seen in the movie have emerged with some details on them via Entertainment Weekly.

1. The Niffler

The creature resembles a platypus with honey badgers serving as a major inspiration for its behaviour. Do not be fooled by its cuteness as the creature is coming for your precious jewellery and nothing can stop it! It can store the goods it finds in a pouch on its belly, infinite storage space just like Hermione’s bag.

2. Bowtruckle

Groot’s magical cousin can be very difficult to spot in its natural environment. The creature can come in very handy when picking locks. Bowtruckles are describes as extremely loyal creatures. The one Newt has is names Pickett who usually sits in his top pocket.

3. Thunderbird

The eagle like beast we saw in the Comic Con trailer is named Thunderbird. The one Scamander has is named Frank whom he rescued from traffickers in Egypt. Frank is now heading to his natural b=habitat in Arizona. Also, the Thunderbird is a the sigil for one of the houses in Ilvermorny (the wizarding school of America).

4. Swooping Evil             Fantastic Beasts - Swooping Evil via

As the name suggests, the beautiful colourful creature can be dangerous. The spiked winged creature is described as a cross between a reptile and a large butterfly. Remember the dementors who sucked out all the happiness and eventually your soul? Well, this creature can suck your brains out! However, the creature is not all the bad as its diluted venom can erase bad memories (BRB, off to buy some diluted butterfly venom).

5. Demiguise

The monkey like creature is extremely difficult to catch, just like a pokémon (great!). The being can become invisible at will, and has precognitive sight, so the only way to catch it is to do something completely unpredictable. The generally very peaceful creature is also highly valuable as its hair is used to make invisibility cloaks.

6. Occamy

The weird creature is described as a plumed, two-legged, winged creature with a serpentine body, making it look like a cross between a dragon and a bird. The creature also lays eggs which are made out of pure silver which are worth a fortune, making the Occamy another valuable creature among many Newt carries.

So here are the six creatures about whom we now know a little more. Got any favourites? Let us know in the comments!

Read the official plot synopsis below :

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident…were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.
