‘A Monster Calls’ Trailer: A Bigger Dramatical Giant

The official trailer for A Monster Calls has been released online. The film is based on the award winning children’s fantasy novel of the same name by Patrick Ness. The film tells the story of a 12 year old boy who escapes into a fantasy world of monsters from the harsh realities of life.

Our main character is played by child actor Lewis MacDougall along with Rogue One actress Felicity Jones, who plays Lewis’ mother, with Liam Neeson voicing the titular monster character. The trailer emphasises on “From Visionary Director” at the beginning like every other now a days (gimmick is growing old guys) but certainly delivers on it. Director J.A. Bayona (The Incredible) cements his unique visual style which is pleasing to watch and wraps it in some tear inducing moments throughout.

The film may look like a harmless children’s fantasy film like The BFG at first but as the trailer continues it you’ll realize that you’ll probably be requiring tissues to wipe those tears off.
