Watch The First Red Band Trailer for the James Franco & Bryan Cranston Comedy ‘Why Him?’

But, Why Him???

Yes, the question probably every father must’ve asked on meeting their daughter’s boyfriend for the first time. 20th Century Fox has released the first trailer for their upcoming comedy. The story is simple enough.

A girl is in a relationship with a awkward billionaire Laird (James Franco) and her family is over to visit them. At first, Liard is seen as a complete miss match, but they change their opinion soon enough as he wins over them slowly except for the the father Ned (Bryan Cranston). It is now Laird’s job to win over Ned in order to marry her, but seems it won’t be that easy.

The film is directed by John Hamburg who also the beloved 2009 comedy I Love You, Man. Franco and Cranston as usual shine throughout the trailer. It is them who will make you want to watch this comedy even if you have probably guessed the ending in the first minute itself.

Here’s the official plot synopsis for the comedy:

Over the holidays, Ned (Bryan Cranston), an overprotective but loving dad and his family visit his daughter at Stanford, where he meets his biggest nightmare: her well-meaning but socially awkward Silicon Valley billionaire boyfriend, Laird (James Franco). The straight-laced Ned thinks Laird, who has absolutely no filter, is a wildly inappropriate match for his daughter. The one-sided rivalry—and Ned’s panic level—escalate when he finds himself increasingly out of step in the glamorous high-tech hub, and learns that Laird is about to pop the question.
