In case you missed it, Seth Grahame-Smith was ousted as director on DC’s The Flash in April. Since then, everyone was left wondering who will helm the Scarlet Speedster’s first solo outing. Well, worry not.
Deadline reported earlier in the day that Rick Famuyiwa, who directed the excellent drama Dope (2015) will helm the project. Famuyiwa will be the third in line to be announced to tackle this project. Earlier last year, it was reported that The LEGO Movie and Jump Street directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller were being eyed for the director’s chair. Later, Seth Grahame-Smith was announced as director with Lord and Miller providing a treatment for the film as they left for the Han Solo anthology film.
Earlier in April, Smith left the project citing “creative differences” a term frequently used in Hollywood when a director leaves the film after a long struggle with the studio. However, the film will still be using Smith’s script developed over at WB.
Ezra Miller will be starring as The Flash in his solo outing which is scheduled to release on March 16, 2018. Audiences were first introduced to the character in this year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and he will be seen next in Justice League: Part 1 which hits theaters in November 2017.
