Whatever you may have thought of the movie you can’t deny one thing. Zack Snyder knows how to shoot beautifully and especially when it comes to action scenes. The director is known for his visual mastery and action with appropriate use of CGI for films such as 300, Watchmen and Sucker Punch. We get a lot of this in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice too.
Below we have the VFX breakdown for the superhero film by well known effects company MPC (Moving Picture Company) which have worked on the effects for films such as The Martian, Spectre, The Revenant and many more.
First of all it is surprising to see that Batman’s mech suit wasn’t CGI but rather the real deal (though in some scenes they resorted to motion capture due to the suit’s restrictions). Also, just like in Man of Steel, both Superman’s and Batman’s capes were CGI. There’s a lot of green screen used (not surprising for a modern blockbuster). Most of the scenes you see below are from the big Batman and Superman fight and the final Doomsday fight.
